Eth 125 Checkpoint 1

Defining Race and heathenity Race and ethnicity argon two of the quad characteristics for classifying minority radicals. Race is defined as a stem of minorities that are socially set apart because of obvious visible differences (Schaefer, 2006). Each society defines what if finds obvious (Schaefer, 2006). For instance, in the United States expel color is considered an obvious difference because people are viewed as either black or white. However, in Brazil they offer an array of terms to describe contrary blends of cutis color, seventh cranial nerve nerve features, and hair texture. Obvious and physical may confer to skin color, hair color, body size, or the shape of a persons face or eyes. Ethnicity is defined as a group of minorities set apart from others because of their national radical or distinctive cultural patterns (Schaefer, 2006). Ethnic minority groups are tell from the dominant group on the basis of cultural differences, such(preno minal) as language, attitudes toward marriage and parenting, and food habits (Schaefer, 2006). Race and Ethnicity is important in the United States because of the diverse racial and ethnic heritages that make up its population. Different racial groups include Blacks, Whites, Native Americans, Asian Americans, Japanese, Chinese, Filipinos, Vietnamese, Koreans, and others. Whereas diametric ethnic groups include White ancestry, Germans, Irish, English, Italians, Jews, Hispanics, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, and others. Accordingly, the emphasis that makes up the racial groups is based on physical differences while the emphasis that makes up ethnic groups is based on cultural differences. Reference Schaefer, R. T.
