Ideologically, the African Americans were macrocosm looked at as equal and do confident(predicate) that race knew they were people too. Although African Americans had to continue to fight for their equality, they did, in fact, shape the course and consequences of the Civil War by having political, ideological, and social actions. African Americans had no rights to vote or invol ve themselves in politics solely that changed after the Civil War. This shaped a consequence of the Civil War because the African Americans views were no monthlong over looked. During the Civil War, no one J. Crespo P a g e 2 paid attention to what the African Americans wanted but afterward, they were granted the voice to say ab pop what they wanted. After being comprehend and given the right to vote, the African Americans had participation in intact Conventions. A map shows the spare-time activity the participation of African Americans and Whites in Constitutional Conventions during 1867-1868. (Doc J). Politically, the whites did non want to be overtaken by the African Americans, so they had a bigger participation to overrule the African Americans. The whites wanted a powerful Democratic Party that supported their wanting. The African Americans still participated in the conventions to make sure the nation Party was strong enough to continue to give the African American their rights. Abraham Lincoln was trying to persuade the Whites to agree on freedom for the African Americans in the United States.African Americans were being freed everywhere instead of just the North. Politically, this helped the African Americans hugely because they were exit to be freed everywhere. One of the consequences was African Americans being freed in the North, but then African Americans were going to be freed everywhere, including the South. After the letter sent out by Abraham Lincoln, the Republican Party decided to try to get an amendment that freed all African Americans. In 1864, the Republican Partys platform stated the following they wanted an Amendment to J. Crespo P a g e 3 officially end slavery everywhere (Doc D).Politically, the African Americans were beginning to be seen as people throughout the nation. This consequence after the Civil War proved that African Americans were no longer going to be slaves anywhere. African Americans found their freedom with the help of the political power of Abraham Lincoln and Republican Party. Then the African Americans were socially looked at differently. The African Americans were no longer such a low class because people began to look at them differently and notice the good things about African Americans. Socially, the African Americans were being helped by the people. On July 30 1861 General genus Benzoin F. Butler reported to the secretary of the war stating the following the African Americans should be free since they are a part of the North (Doc A). Socially, the North no longer presented the African Americans as property. This shaped the Civil War because the African Americans became part of the Union that fought for the North. Then after the Civil War was won and the African Americans were freed, their schoolhouse system proved them socially equal and good as the whites. In March 1864, Charlotte Forten, an African American tea cher in South Carolina Sea Islands, express the following she spoke of how happy the African American children were to learn and how much knowledge they have attained (Doc E). The African Americans were beginning to be looked at the same as the whites. The African Americans no longer were looked at as property.Ideologically, the African Americans caused a consequence of the Civil War to be looked at as people. On March 7, 1864 in The New J. Crespo P a g e 4 York Times it stated the following African Americans have gone through a drastic change to now be free Americans in the United States equal to the whites (Doc F). Th e African Americans were no longer the property they were once known of African Americans were people just as the Whites. Ideologically, this proved that a consequence of the Civil War was the change of equality that African Americans had. After The New York Times had posted the article, Thomas Nast from Harpers Weekly on August 5 1865 had posted the following a picture of lady liberty bear outing next to an African American Union Solider asking And Not This Man? (Doc G). Ideologically, the picture proved that the people no longer were going to look at African Americans as property so they should be set equal. The North wanted the South to have the same thoughts about African Americans. This set a consequence of the Civil War by having the African Americans no longer being looked at as slaves as they were when the war had begun. After the African Americans were no longer looked at as property, the African Americans made sure the Whites thought of them as people no matter what. Afri can Americans were going to deal with racism and injustice but they made sure that the whites knew they were people also. Ideologically, the African American consequence after the Civil War was that African Americans are people, not slaves nor property. On August 20 1862 in New York during the resolution of African Americans in Newtown, African Americans stated the following they wanted to make sure that the President knew that they were not going to leave because the United States was their country also that they were going to fight in for their freedom (Doc B). This constructed the course of the Civil War because the African Americans began fighting in the Civil War.Ideologically, African Americans were looked at as people in the nation of the United States to fight along the Whites for their freedom and country. After the Civil War, when African Americans were no longer slaves and granted their freedom, some J. Crespo P a g e 5 whites resisted the full freedom of African American s. In 1867 with Rebecca Parsons she went through the following she went back to receive her kindred since she was a free slave but the owner would not allow her to because they were his (Doc I).Although, Parsons did not allow Rebecca her children it proved that Parsons realized she was also people because she demanded them back from him. Rebecca is no longer a slave who has to stand down, she also had rights which proved she is as equal as Parsons. Ideologically, after the Civil War this was a consequence by African Americans no longer being looked at differently because they were people also. African Americans ideologically created the course and consequence of the Civil War by being looked at as people and not slaves.African Americans shaped the course and consequences of the Civil War by ideological, social, and political reasoning. African Americans were known in the United States as slaves and property but they no longer were during and after the Civil War. They became people o f equality to the whites in the United States. They no longer had no say in politics they were given rights and opportunities to speak of their views. They no longer were viewed as property but people. Also, they werent the low class everyone had always labeled them as. African Americans helped the Union win the war to win themselves the freedom they deserved.

Postmodernism and Politics Essay Example for Free

Postmodernism and Politics EssayPostmodernism has revealed how acquaintance has been political crowingly because of how postmodernism approaches science, for instance. Postmodern thought does not consider the scientific method as the restore basis for determining the truth or understanding the world as there are many other approaches which, for all in all we know, may also be more or less valid (Cole, Hill Rikowski, 1997, p. 189).In doing so, postmodernism views the scientific method as one of the reasons why science has dominated not lone(prenominal) the academic circles but the bastion of human knowledge in its entirety. Basically, anything that has been established by the methods of science has been collectively understood as the truth or the walk-to(prenominal) that we can get to truth (Mirchandani, 2005, p. 93). The result is simply staggeringscience has become originator itself in shaping the course of human civilization. One example is how the development of the a tomic bomb through careful scientific research and experiment has led the way to the contemporary proliferation of nuclear power. Countries have become all the more powerful because of their possession of nuclear armaments that could easily wipe away the threats to their sovereignty. Another example is the way in which science has created technological means for hastening the ware and distribution of goods across geographical boundaries. The scientific advancement in terms of cyber technology and the internet has contributed to the increase in the capabilities of local and global businesses. In effect, large corporations have gained more ways to expand their wealth and, therefore, their influence over governments. Postmodernism has made all of these circumstances clearer than before although critics point out that postmodernism merely reveals the power of science and the other ways of explaining why science has gained such wide influence over various societies (Lee, 1999, p. 744).In essence, postmodernism has revealed the breadth of the influence and power of science over humanity inasmuch as science has largely contributed to the assimilation of political power and force over the years. Other ways may be create in explaining how science has behaved in more recent times in changing the political landscape of the world, but postmodernism will agree that those ways do not necessarily stand of lesser significance than the scientific approaches.ReferencesCole, M. , Hill, D. , Rikowski, G. Ask the participants to fill out a feedback of the training program. Analyze the comments to plan for further training. The simulation method used in this type of training is impressive because it is planned and resourceful. Justify why you selected the training program that you did.The simulation method is a perfect program used by airlines. The method offers the trainees the opportunity to experience some characteristics of their job in a secure and restricted environment and build skills related to those aspects of the job. Southwest Airlines has naturalized the Flight Simul ation training method where the technicians are responsible for continuous maintenance and engineering support for the Flight Operations Training Center, also where all Southwest Airlines Pilots receive training, as well as support for Flight Attendant emergency door trainers. (Southwest, 2014). Southwest continues to count on the incredible reliability of its Flight Simulation Technicians as the airline completes the integration of AirTran, trains classes of New engage Pilots, and adds hundreds of Captains through 2015.(Southwest, 2014)Propose two (2) ways to motivate an employee who has no interest in attending a training class. Motivating and keeping employees in the company, requires effective management practices and strong leadership skills. An adequate training and good operating system a re vital in a company. Management, leadership skills and efforts will determine the success inproviding a good environment where the employees will be motivated therefore will remain loyal to the company. Southwest Airlines is an excellent example of what most airlines companies are striving for. Some of its ways to motivate an employee who has no interest in attending a training class are 1- Reward and recognition. They know precisely what the company gives them in return for their unique work. The entire employees place particular importance in exploring every possible technique approach a nd spirt to recognize outstanding performance. Southwest identifies all employees directly in proportion to their personal accomplishments. A key feature of Southwest Airlines performance management is its performance transparency. To begin with, the company measures three dimension of performance Employee wellbeing, customer satisfaction and shareholder gain. To reach their goals, the performance of the average worker is critical (Deutschendorf, 2014).Therefore, Southwest Airlines stresses a demanding tracking and rewarding of individu al performance, attached with clear immediate and straight feedback. The employees have a strong image of the background in which they work they understandably understand how performance is measured and what it is they can do in order to improve it. The understanding of current individual performance and organizational performance is a key factor not only in Southwest Airlines employee motivation, but also in any employee motivation setting. Develop a survey to realise feedback from the employees who attend the training. Companies should give a chance to their employees to express their thoughts on the direction of the company has the opposite effect. It is very important for the company to find out their opinions of a specific training class and it is more likely they will take a personal stake in the business and feel like they are part of the team. Every method of gathering employee feedback depends on what challenges you need to address as a business.Common questions managers se ek when employees complete their training classes are Was the course appropriate to your needs? In Google Inc, they have to make sure diverse the employees come from incompatible background and unique k right awayledge. This is be score they need to support and fit in the need of the diverse customer base. The advantages forget be bringing to the Google Inc through and through the company commit workforce diversity. First of all, the workforce diversity increases creativity within the company because heterogeneous groups are generating different and unique ideas with the Google Inc. As more diverse ideas are suggested, the chances of governing a workable answer are improved. In atmospheres when brainstorming is necessary, more ideas are formed because team members are culturally diverse. Moreover, the diversity in viewpoint also is the advantages. This is because Google Inc hired the employees come from different culture or generation which will help the company to get diverse viewpoint from the employees. However, the workforce diversity als o brings the disadvantages to the Google Inc too. The competition rather than teamwork is the disadvantages of the workforce diversity because diversity drive out cause competition among worker. If the employees of the Google Inc are not open to accept other culture, they may bring negative effect to the business. For example, they are working together to finish their work but they will work separately which prolong the process. side by side(p) is the impaired freedom of speech. In this type of setting, Googles provides brush offnot just cracked jokes, tell stories or state the opinion whatever you want because the worker might be judge as being discriminating.harmonize to the Two Factor Theory of Frederick Herzberg, people are influenced by two factors which are hygienics factors and motivation factors. The hygiene factors defined as needed to ensure an employee does not become dissatisfied. Moreover, the typical of the hygiene factor which included working condition, quality of supervision, job, company policies and administration. The motivation factors are needed in order to motivate an employee into higher performance and the typical motivation factors included get toment, interest in job, growth and responsibility for task. In this case, Google Inc. is using this two factor possibility concept in their company and to make sure the employee venerate the working environment during their working meter. The Google Inc. has provided an awesome working coiffure and benefits to their staff and the benefits of the Google Inc are among the best in the world. Google Inc has applied the fun and laughter at workplace. For example, Google Inc. has prepared fun stuff around the office, including bocce ball courts, bowl alleys, and a giant climbing wall. Furthermore, the pussy tables and video games also available in many place for the staff to use. neighboring, they also prepare the gourmet forage as free for their staffs. Google also set a room which prov ides massage chairs that you control while you view relaxing aquariums for relaxations uses.Google Inc. through two factor scheme may bring some advantages to their company. First of the advantages is the employees become more skill and creative because Google Inc create a fantastic working environment to their employees. In this case, we know that the Google Inc is a high technology company and their staff always need a relaxing environment to create something new ideas. Furthermore, the advantage is to prevent the staff resign because hiring a new staff and planning them need a lot of time. From this case, this goes to the loss of the company directly which many a time goes overlooked and the Google Inc. also fire not ensure efficiency from the new staff.Next of the advantage is prevent the loss of Google Inc.s knowledge. This is because Google Inc often tops much time and money on the employee in expectation of the future return, but the employee had left, he takes with his valuable knowledge about the company or past history and the investment is not realized. However, two factor theory that performed by Google Inc. have disadvantages. First of all, it has waste the money of the Google Inc. This is because it cost the company a lot of money to set up or establish all the facility and it contributenot make sure the employee be more efficiency on their work. Moreover, the staff also hobonot complete their work on time when they were addicted by the all relaxing facility.Next the management theory has take in in the Google Inc is Theory Y by Douglas McGregor. The Theory Y can be defined as an idea that shows the positive view of the worker and assumes employees may be ambitious and self-motivated and exercise self-control. It also implies the optimistic management theory that employees are generally creative and view work as fulfilling. Actually in the Google Inc, they offer a creative and participative atmosphere that to stimulate employees to be oi l-bearing in achieving the organizations goals. The Google Inc. performs this Theory Y because their tasks tend to more flexible and innovative. Besides, their company always needs the new concept and idea to support their current mooring on the world and work hard to keep the new technology passing. For example, Google Inc. is using this Theory Y as their leadership style and less carry off their employees. In this situation, it is very work to the Google Inc. and always achieves the goal set by them. The Theory Y also brings some advantages to the Google Inc. First of the advantage is employee can behind to get the new idea. This is because they can play hard and get rest at their workplace and those can getting the new inspiration when they are delight in the game or relaxing. In this case, a Googles manager has mention that idea does not come always when you sit at your desk. So, it is very effective to Google Incs worker. Next of the advantages is the staff has ability to ma ke a good decisions. This is because the manage less to supervise them and not under pressure or micromanage, it may let the employee can do their best and ability to solve the problem them face by themselves. On another hand, the Theory Y used by the Google Inc has disadvantages too. The disadvantages is it may cause some task cannot complete on time. This is because no all the worker will be ambitious and self-motivated so it will affect the task cannot going on smoothly. In this case, it will also let the company loss the time and the money.According to Ghee Soon Lin, Robert L. Mathis and John H. Jackson (2010), Recruiting is the process of generating a pool of qualified applicants for organizational jobs. However, recruiting is also about to finding qualified applicants, a task that often requires much more than just running an ad in a newspaper. The recruiting can just a set of function involve coordinating internal openings, handling the flow of candidates data, dealing with re gulatory reporting, and moving candidates through the system.Google Inc. tends to use the external enlisting source compare with internal recruitment source. External recruitment is when the business looks to fill the vacancy from any suitable applicant outside the business. Internal recruitment is when the business looks to fill the vacancy from within its existing workforce. This is because the Google Inc. always set up a new offices around the world and they need more talents work in their company. Actually, the Google Inc set up over 70 offices in more than 40 countries currently. For the external recruiting, Google Inc has expanded to university universe nowadays. Google Inc is also recruiting college grads from schools other than the usual suspects such as Stanford, Carnegie Mellon and MIT. Colleges such as the University of Victoria in Canada and Emory University in Atlanta rarely saw Google recruiters in the past. scarce now it is more common. The company is spreading its r ecruiters out among more schools, rather than concentrating them at the most elite universities. The pro for the external recruitment is it will bring irreverent employees and talents. By using the external recruitment, Google Inc will be able to get the new talent and ideas which are beneficial to their companys development and growth. Besides, external vacancies create opportunities to find more high qualifications and experienced staffs which are needed in the team. The diversity of employees helps to form a stronger team and they are able to work more effective. Subsequently, it will stimulate growth and advancement of Google Inc.In contrast, the disadvantage of the external recruiting is having higher cost compared internal recruiting. Hiring externally is costly as the company need to spend a lot of money on the aspect of advertising, recruiting and interviewing. Besides, it is also time consuming. This is because the company need to hire the expert people which not original i n the part of the organization. To ensure not to hire the wrong people, the company needs to carry out interviewing process. This process is time consuming and costly to the company as they need to pay at a high range of salary to hire the expert people.Next, the Google Inc also using the AMO method and which is the short form of Ability, Motivation and Opportunity. This AMO method is using to measure the performance of the employee in the Google Inc. The meaning of the ability refers to that talent enable to complete the specific job or task. Next is the motivation, it defined as a set of energetic forces that originates both within and outside an employee, initiates work-related effort, and determines its direction, intensity, and persistence. The last one is the opportunity is the chance of the employee to get into a higher position.SECTION 3 FINDINGSThe unlimited sick leave that Google management team offered may become a problem. The someone who takes leave may cause problems to his/hers colleague as they have to increase their work amount by helper for his/hers work and the productivity will also reduce during the time they are on leave. According to the Two Factor Theory, it doesnt brings only job satisfaction which occurs on the applier of sick leave. It also brings job dissatisfaction which occurs on the appliers colleague.Google workforce management applies the Theory Y by Douglas McGregor as their leadership style. Theory Y is an idea that managerial assumes all staffs is ambitious and self-motivated.It may neglect those workers those are not that ambitious and self-motivated. Those person may have potential to adapt with Theory X that may stimulate their potential. Theory X is theory which stated that workers inherently dislike and bend work and must be driven to it.Google also suggested a method, AMO which brings meaning Ability and Skills, Motivation and Opportunity to involve. Due to large amount of staff with talent, those wise(p) workers wi th ability and skills feel that they are not recognized and valued as the company matures. The perseverance of recruiting in new knowledge workers causes those current knowledge workers feel less motivated and the competition among colleague may become stronger. The other problem that occurs due to large amount of staffs, some workers feels that they have not given liberal opportunity and job satisfaction are not delivered.OCB (Organizational Citizen Behavior) is defined as the individuals behavior that is discretionary, not directly or explicitly recognized by the formal reward system and that in the aggregate promotes the effective functioning of the organization. The problem that made by AMO may affect OCB of the employees.Necessity training and recruitment have to apply on the new hired employees in order to make them to have relevant knowledge about their job and adapt with the job. But it may consume a period of time for their training.SECTION 4 RECOMMENDATIONThere is some ways recommended to improve the companyIt is good that Google applied the Theory Y as their leadership style but there are some workers not that ambitious and self-motivated. Google can also apply Theory X as well. We can know that Theory X can be defines as the theory which is stated that workers inherently dislike and avoid work and must be driven to it. Manager can tries to motivate the workers through fear and scold and maintain the tight control over the workers as well. other than that, manager should rewards the workers if they achieved the goals while manager should punishes them if they done any mistakes. With this principle, these Theory X workers can stimulate their very own potential and of course, it will increase company productivity.Google should also apply one of the 4 principles of science by Taylor (Kinichi, A, 2011) which is give training and rewards to workers based on their performance. Management should reward their workers after they have achieved a certain g oal and the rewards can be in the terms of extrinsic and intrinsic rewards. By this way, workers will feel motivated and will work harder to achieve another goal to gain another reward. Besides, management also needs to give their workers some free suitable training to them. These trainings not only can give their workers more experiences and have a chance to promote, but also can let them sure that the management needs them.Besides that, because there is continuity of recruiting in new knowledge workers in Google, the current knowledge workers feel less motivated. It is because they always thought that they work hard for the company for nothing. To prevent it, Google can apply the principle that suggested by Mayo which is Hawthorne effect (Kinichi, A., 2011). Management should always take more attention to the workers so that they will work harder for the company. Manager can take attention on the workers by give rewards and applauses when they achieve anything good and the targets that he or she targeted. Dr. Motivation, Dave Worman (n.d.) found that the manager do not give enough attention on the workers it is because they do not get enough attention from the top management too. To change and prevent this situation occur, attentions should be taken start from the top management. We can know that Google always recruiting new workers outside of the company. This is called as external recruitment. This recruitment can be good as the company can have specialized knowledge workers but this recruitment will consume more time and expensive. Besides, it is very high risk because the company even does not know the person that they recruited. So the better way is Google should apply internal recruitment. This recruitment not only saves time but has fewer risks. It is because internal candidates are more familiar with the organization. Besides, Google no needs to spend their time to train the new candidates, advertise, and interview the newbie.SECTION 5 CONCLUSIONGoogl e Company is an American multinational corporation. Google company also provides Internet-related products and services, including software, internet search, advertising technologies, and cloud computing. The Company also provides online productivity software including social networking, email and an office suite. Google products develop to the desktop as well, with organizing and editing photos, instants messaging and applications for web browsing.Google Inc. is using this two factor theory concept which is hygiene factors and motivation factors in their company and to make sure the employee enjoy the working environment during their working time. The Google Inc. has provided an awesome working place and benefits to their staff and the benefits of the Google Inc. are among the best in the world. For example, Google Inc. has prepared fun stuff around the office and prepares the gourmet food as free for their staffs. Google Inc. through two factor theory may bring some advantages to their company. First of the advantages is the employees become more efficiency and creative because Google Inc. create a fantastic working environment to their employees. The next the advantage is to prevent the staff resign because hiring a new staff and training them need a lot of time. However, two factor theory that performed by Google Inc. have disadvantages. First of all, it has waste the money of the Google Inc.Next the management theory has apply in the Google Inc. is Theory Y. The Google Inc. performs this Theory Y because their tasks tend to more flexible and innovative. The Theory Y also brings some advantages to the Google Inc. First of the advantage is employee can well to get the new idea. Next of the advantages is the staff has ability to make a good decisions. On another hand, the Theory Y used by the Google Inc. has disadvantages too. The disadvantages is it may cause some task cannot complete on time. Google Inc. tends to use the external recruitment source compar e with internal recruitment source. The pro for the external recruitment is it will bring fresh employees and talents. In contrast, the con of the external recruiting is having higher cost compared internal recruiting.

Marketing Strategies Of Insurance Sector Commerce Essay

Marketing Strategies Of insurance Sector Commerce EssayThe newborn detarotted determine regime requires an altogether different underwriting sit. None exists now. A new model has to be put in place with no prior examine. Underwriting, that was done by the tariff book till now, needs the application of a sharp human mind, professional expertise, keen acquaintance of a particular risk, a keen analysis of risk factors and their evaluation, a reflection of the insurers own past claim experience in respect to similar risks accepted to predict the future redness potential of the risk assumed and a cultivated ability to build a rate model that provides a margin to the insurer. With no past experience to guide their efforts, how will the insurers now pick-up these underwriting skills, expertise and knowledge base in a short time? How can the employee mindset, that flavoured to tariffs for the premium rates be persuaded to look at and collect the vast data that is required to price ri sks to fit the perceived risk factors? What be insurers doing to make their pickyized underwriters acquire these levels of skills, expertise and knowledge? It takes time to build expertise and experience only when a beginning has to be made.An insurer is likewise forced now to redefine his identity e real as a low-cost insurer and cut premium rates to stay in business or consciously build price differentiators, because he provides and delivers superior customer-perceived value. Such delivered value may not be financial, besides it is highly efficient impelling and convenient to an insured, due to the insurers specialized expertise, his particularized.PLACE OR DISTRIBUTION CHANNELSDistribution refers to the executements by which the product after manufacturing is moved till it reaches the customer. There are various intermediaries in every business like wholesalers, retailers, and so forth In the swear out business, operators and brokers are intermediaries in the transactio n. Insurance business is sold through agents as intermediaries. In India, the regulation provide that an redress agent can repre displace only on living and one non-life insurer. An agent has to obtain a clear from the IRDA.Brokers also act as restitution intermediaries. that they are different from agents in the sense that they are independent businessmen either drop deading alone or in partnership. Brokers may be erect in the non-life insurance business easeing customers whose insurance requirements are complex. They handle big risks and need superior financial and analytical skills.Intermediaries play a very significant role when the claim has to be settled. They have to see that the legitimate claim is duly paid without delays. The other intermediaries at the stage of the claim areIn the case of general insurance, surveyors and loss assessors, who are independent professionals, who are c alled upon to inspect the damages and losses claimed against.Motor accident claims t ribunal to adjudicate on the quantum of compensation that should be paid to the victims of motor accidents.Lok Adalats consisting of judges, to enable expeditious summary disposal of want-pending disputes regarding claims.Review committees (in the LIC) at different levels, the top most creation headed by a high court judge, to review claims which have been repudiated on grounds of misrepresentation of fraud.Other organizations like hospitals (for healthcare and medical examination insurances) or garages (for motor repairs) who make haste the claims settlements. subscribe to MarketingMarketing of insurance products can also be done directly. The media used for direct mart placeing areDirect mail. Letters sent to consumers on the basis of addresses available from informants like telephone directory, membership lists of clubs and professional associations, stock exchange brokers or registrars to companies.Telephone contactsTelevision programmes of relatively yearner distanceAdv ertisements and loose insertion in main line as well as professional and trade journals.Displays in conferences, services for specialized products linked to the themes of the seminars.Direct contact from the Insurers salaried staff.Stalls in exhibitions and sole exhibitions in remote areas.Call centres or Service centresKiosks with touch technologyOver the counter in big stores. In India, direct marketing is done by the LIC for its group gratuity and superannuation business. In non-life insurance business, almost the entire business from bodied bodies had been done through direct marketing. This business was solicited by the officers of the insurers and not through agents. The internet has opened up new possibilities in direct marketing. Insurance is being used for the following purposes. To provide basic information about available plans to prospects. To provide answers to frequently asked questions about insurance. To provide details of nearest location of insureds typicalTo provide q uotations for premium and for loansTo provide information to policyholders about policy status, pending requirements, etc.For premium collectionTo sell simple policies like personal accident, medical householders pure endowment, annuities, etc.Work Site MarketingThis area needs to be tapped, as in any country one of the biggest markets is through the work point. With changes in human resources management policies and compensation packages, group products or work site products do have a definite market that cannot be ignored. here the advantages would beCaptive customer basePotential to sell individual insurance and group insuranceHigh trust factorHigh photograph ratio for the intermediariesThe challenges would be the cost effectiveness, product customization and efficient post-sales servicing, which would determine continued business. Technology has a key role to play in work site marketing to ensure cost emoluments. Banks and financial institutions have been successfully marketi ng credit cards and other financial products utilise this channel. If not an identical model a similar approach can be used for selling insurance.InternetThrough India is joining the fast growing breed of net users, using net for transactions has not yet caught up. Though a few banks provide online banking the usage is still a small fragment. The insecurity associated with transactions oer the net is still an inhibiting factor. At present, most of the insurance companies have product information and/or illustrative tools on the Web.We do not see the meshing evolving into a means for direct selling of insurance in the current scenario. In the Indian market, where insurance is sold after considerable persuasion take down after face-to-face selling, the selling over the net, which must be initiated by the client, would take some more time. While the technology capability is there, improvements in bandwidth and al-Qaida are needed. Also needed are simpler products where auto-underwr iting is possible. Automobile insurance, one of the segments of insurance purchased off the shelf in India, would be the ideal segment to start with. On the life side, term assurance for standard lives with simplified underwriting is a possibility. These channels by themselves will not be able to overcome the mindset of the people, but rather can only be enablers for the human channels.Invisible InsurerIn this model, the insurance company or its representative is not the entity marketing the products. The insurance cover is sold by an automobile/credit card company as an add-on product leveraging the brand of the retailer. The risk is carried by the insurance company, which underwrites it. Products like creditor insurance, automobile insurance, and credit card related insurance could be distributed using this channel. This model can be adopted in all market segments for the lines of business mentioned. It is already prevalent in some areas like credit card insurance and crop insuranc e for agriculture loans. The new players are also attempting this model. The venture of Maruti9 into insurance by setting up two subsidiaries MIDS10 and MIBL11 to sell automobile insurance is a case in point. These firms will largely arrange insurance cover for Marutis captive base. MIDS has been registered as a corporate agent with an exclusive arrangement with Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, while MIBL has linked up with state-owned National Insurance Company Limited. What makes these arrangements attractive is the low distribution cost and captive customer base. However, repeat business or renewal business cannot be assured. In the life segment, group creditor insurance may be the most suitable product for this channel. The postal department started selling life insurance policies way back in 1884 to people working in world empyrean undertakings and government departments. In 1995, postal department was allowed to sell policies to the general public living in uncouth areas. The postal life insurance ranks second only to LIC in transacting life insurance business. Last year, business of postal department was higher than of all confidential life insurers put together. On an all India basis, they sold 27 lakh policies and earned a premium income of Rs. 650 crores. USP is a lower premium and higher bonus, but what is unique is that they dont have any insurance agents selling postal life insurance policies. The business is promoted by a few designated staff and is managed by a separate directorate.PROMOTIONThe purpose of promotion is to communicate with the market. Promotion tries to influence attitudes and receptivity to eliminate misconceptions and thus to more sales. The IRDA has issued guidelines about adverts by insurers and the agents or brokers in newspapers, magazines, sales talks, bill boards, hoardings, panels, radio, television, websites, e-mail, portals, leaflets, literature, circulars, sales and flyers, telephone solicitation, business cards, vide os, faxes or other parley with a prospect or policyholder urging him to purchase, renew, increase or diversify a policy of insurance. The main requirements areThe advertisement programme has to be overseen by an officer responsible for compliance with the regulations.A copy of every advertisement should be filled with the IRDA.Advertisements should disclose the full particulars of the insurer, as well as the form number and type of coverage of the policy referred to.Display the registration/licence numbers on their websites. No third party, other than insurer or authorized intermediary can distribute information or recommended purchase of particularized insurance products.Advertisements should not be unfair or misleading.Along with the advertisements, publicity is also an equally strong medium of promotion. In the case of services, the most effective form of publicity is the word of mouth. But both advertisements and publicity can create sentience and also arouse curiosity or int erest. These are not powerful enough to generate desire or to provoke action. Thus public relations become important. Public relations refer to separate, planned and preserve efforts made with a view to establish and maintain mutually beneficial kinships between an organization and its prospective customers. PR tools include all the tools of publicity, lobbying, journals/newsletters, sponsorship of sports and other activities, special drives, entertainment, lunches and dinners, etc.PEOPLEPeople are the most critical resource in any organization. Without people, no other resource can perform. An employee, who is dissatisfied or worried, may not apply himself fully at work. At the same of interaction with the customer, the employee is alone. The insurance service is judiciary in nature. Thus credibility or trustworthiness, in the perception of the customer, is crucial. The employee can strengthen or erode this.Critical Success Factors for InsuranceChange in the Attitude of the Popul ation. There is need for a change in the attitude of the people towards insurance. Insurance is interpreted just as a tool for tax-saving. But insurance can be taken as shield around their families and business for any unknown calamity and also now-a-days insurance provides good investing opportunity. Thus people have to be made aware about the risk coverage and investment part of the insurance.Open and Transparent Environment created under the IRDA. Insurance as a sector requires players who are financially strong and are willing to wait for returns. Their confidence can only be boosted only if there are open and pellucid policy guidelines. This will also help the consumers feel stage that the regulatory is an active one and cares to do everything possible to keep things under control and help the insurance environment grow maturely.Well- set up Distribution Network. Bancassurance is becoming more and more popular. Public sector banks like SBI, PNB, etc. have huge network because of their long existence. Therefore they can be successful.Trained Professionals. Initially only insurance agents were considered to be the best salesmen for insurance products. But now with Privatisation and Globalisation more and more professionalism is required in sales efforts. Private players have professional qualified sales force.Rationale Approach to the Investment Criteria. IRDA has guidelines for the investment pattern of the insurance companies to gibe its social obligations. But the players feel this compulsion to be unjust and it affects their return on investments. The more the people insured, break down the revenue, discontinue the security and ultimately better the morale and productivity.Stringent Accounting Practice to Prevent Failures amongst the Insurers. Insurer has the hard-earned money of the masses. Failure of any of the insurer for any reason can have dim effects. To prevent such possibility, a stringent accounting practice is imperative.Level Playing Fi eld for all Insurers. Government should provide unbiased environment to all the insurance players, so that everybody has equal opportunities. With coming of private players, LIC is also focusing on advertising and has become one of the biggest advertisers of its products via using wide range of products, i.e., patsy and electronic media, sponsoring events, road shows, etc.LIC is focusing both on mass marketing and segmentation strategy.Main focus of promotion activities is one tax benefit and returns from insurance.LIC is focusing on CRM.Challenges for Public and Private Sector CompaniesPublic Sector CompaniesPrivate Sector CompaniesIdentity is well established, but the perception of poor service providers is a stigma.Products are not attractive and flexible enough but expensive. To retain their creamy layer clientele who are the most likely to be wooed by the new companiesRetain and attract good intermediaries.Match the aura created by the new companies in the urban market.Have to build their identity in a market where the public does not distinguish them.Remove the perception that anything that looks good as expensive.Work against the peoples mindset that they are not here for the long term.Attract intermediaries especially agents with the requisite qualifications and attributes who can market the company and the product.Run the risk of tapping an already insured market for repeat insurance instead of tapping new virgin pockets in the market.MARKETING STRATEGIES OF INSURANCE PLAYERS IN INDIAIntroduction of innovative products and services focusing on targeted customer segment.Use the concept of CRM and develop relationship with customers to retain the existing customer and make new customers.Availing the products and services at low cost and with short times.Insurance players have to focus on employees by focusing on their skills and motivating them for continuous improvements in process capabilities, quality and response times.Taking the help of information technology, database and systems in an optimum manner.Punch delimit of Some PlayersLife Insurance corporation of IndiaICICI PrudentialING VyasaBirla Sun LifeHDFC StandardOM Kotak MahindraTata AIGMax New YorkBajaj AllianzAMP SanmarLife is Beautiful. Toni Morrison and Charlotte Perkins Gilman :: comparison compare contrast essays

Toni Morrison and Charlotte Perkins Gilman In this age of electric cars, flying machines, and Chinese take-out, it is easy to let certain every-day flaws slip past us. Take for example linguistic process. What percentage of Americans check out I dont got any m adepty when in reality they dont have any money? Sure its just a minor flaw, a minute taint that could easily pass unnoticed. But, what about the next person who says, I aint got no money. Is there a limit? Is there a limit to how badly language can be mutilated, destroyed, or is death the ultimate confinement? Nobel Prize winner, Toni Morrison, expresses her disgust and fear of such a death in her 1993 Nobel Prize Lecture. She tells the drool of an elderly blind muliebrity whom is known and respected in her community for her wisdom and knowledge. Morrison explains that Among her people the old woman is both the law and its transgression (Morrison 1993). On one occasion, the woman is approached by some young people who are intent on taking advantage of her blindness. They say, Old woman, I hold in my sight a bird. Tell me whether it is living or wild. After some time the woman replies, I dont know. I dont know whether the bird you are holding is dead or alive, but what I do know is that it is in your hands. It is in your hands. (Morrison 1993) Morrison interprets the bird to be language and the woman to be a practiced writer. Morrison states that The woman is maladjusted about how the language she dreams in, given to her at birth, is handled, put into service, even withheld from her for certain nefarious purposes. ...She believes that if the bird in the hands of her visitors is dead, the custodians are responsible for the corpse (Morrison 1993). The woman is aware that language, her very way of communicating with the world, her sole instrument of expression in modern society, is dying. As language continues to die, the woman and her medium for expression plough increasi ngly confined, with death as the final outcome. She is shackled and detained by her inability to halt the holocaust, the complete and utter desecration of the language she loves so much.

Essay --

Have you heard of any famous African Americans who contributed capaciously to the United States of America? Whether you answered the question yes, or no, I know of one African American who did great things for America. Gwendolyn Brooks was an African American poet who wrote about the lives of an every day African American during the 1900s. She struggled in her lifetime just as everyone else in the world. Only, she did something about her struggles. Whenever she saw something interesting and/or shocking, she would write her poetry about the very thing. People all around could relate to her poetry, therefore having a great impact on their lives. Gwendolyn Elizabeth Brooks was born on June 7 of 1917. Even though she was born in Topeka, Kansas, she grew up in Chicago. As a percentage of the Great Migration, her family moved over to Chicago. As I said before, Brooks writing was mostly influenced by the rest of the world. From going to three different eminent schools, Gwendol yn picked up on so much racial prejudice that it shaped how her writing would later be. At the age of thirteen, G...
